Reaching across borders to educate students

The development of “Ava-Teacher”, a virtual classroom, began as a research project at WCU and continues in further development to engage pre-service teachers at UNC Pembroke in a variety of scenarios to help them with daily classroom decision-making, responsibilities and activities as well as handling potentially difficult student/parent/family situations.

Elementary and Middle Grades Education methods courses are viewed as the threshold from pedagogy to practice. In order for students to have the best possible advantage before setting foot into the classroom as a pre-service teacher it is necessary to in a matter of speaking "test the waters".
